Obituary

Jessie's obituary is in today's Atlanta Journal Constitution:

Anja M. “Jessie” Peacock was lost to us in a car accident on Saturday, October 20, 2007. Jessie was born April 25, 1971 in Wolfenbüttel, Germany as the daughter of Jürgen and Bärbel Pauser. She was the first of two children. She came to America in 1998 and resided in Lawrenceville, GA since 2000. She was very active online as a blogger, political commentator and as moderator of 11Alive news blogs. She formed friendships with people all around the world. Jessie was a homemaker, home schooler and loving mother to three sons in America. She was painfully estranged from two daughters and a son in The Netherlands. Survivors include husband James, sons Jeremy, Jason and James II and her Dutch children Ruth, Evelyne and Daniel. Receiving of friends will be Friday, October 26 from 3:00pm to 4:00pm at Bill Head Funeral Home and Crematory Lilburn/Tucker 770-564-2726. Services will be held immediately following in the chapel. Please dress comfortably in Jessie’s honor. Following services the family invites friends to their home for refreshments and celebration of Jessie’s life. In lieu of flowers the family encourages donations to The Home School Legal Defense Association.

A beautiful tribute

Jessie has friends all over the world through various groups and causes. Scott, of the Santa Monica Van Boys, made this unbelievably beautiful tribute to her.

I cried so hard when I watched it last night that I woke up Jason, our middle boy. We watched it together and cried our eyes out. He had not cried since we first told him what happened. Thank you so much Scott for helping a little boy and his dad take a big step together.

Services for Jessie

We will be having services for Jessie on Friday, October 23:

Bill Head Funeral Home
6101 Hwy 29 (Lawrenceville Hwy)
Tucker, GA 30084

Receiving of friends will be from 3pm to 4pm. At 4pm we will adjourn to the funeral home's chapel for stories, anecdotes and memories of Jessie. Everybody and anybody who wishes to share their thoughts, feelings and memories of Jessie or their wishes and condolences for the family is encouraged to do so.

When we complete our mourning for Jessie's death at the funeral parlor I want everybody to come back to our home to help me celebrate the life of this vibrant, strong and beautiful woman with me.

Where:
2816 Castle Dr.
Lawrenceville, GA 30044

When:
After the service to 9pm (-ish)

But what if I'm hungry:
Food and refreshments will be there. BYOB (please drink responsibly)

This home we live in was an incredible source of pride for Jessie. She was able to provide something for our children that she never had as a child herself - a house. Her favorite thing in the world was to have friends over to enjoy it with her and I aim to maintain the tradition without pause.

I know that some folk won't be able to make it to the funeral home because of the timing and it being a work day. Not a problem. We won't be validating ticket stubs from the service or anything like that so just come straight to the house any time 5ish or later.

Dress for everything this day is whatever you are most comfortable in - suit, slacks, dockers or shorts. Whatever it is, make it something you like to wear. My wife truly hated getting gussied up and very specifically did not want people to dress up on account of her. To put it bluntly, your presence is what is important and I don't give a rat's ass what you wear as long as you feel good in it. If you would like to use me as a yardstick I plan on wearing jeans, sneakers and a shirt Jessie bought me.

KIDS ARE WELCOME. Please bring them if you can.

All guests are also encouraged to take a pet home with them.

11 or so homes wanted

My wife was a certified (or certifiable?) animal lover. She collected pets like other folk collect stamps or coins. We have a huge number of animals that she took in and took care of. We are keeping what we feel we can take care of and we've already found homes for several others. We still have quite a few that we need to find homes for.

If anybody in the Atlanta, GA area would be interested in taking in any of these pets it would be an enormous help. Please comment here or email me at jim AT jpeacock DOT net.

1 dog
5 cats
2 little fish
3 turtles

Dog - "Sandy". Aussie Shepherd / Golden Lab mix, 1 1/2 years old. She is very sweet and has been around kids, dogs and cats her whole life. She is also high energy and a bit for us to handle now.

Cats - "Apple", "Stitch", "Spooky", "Duffy", and "Chuckie". All girls except for Chuckie. Apple is the oldest at about 5 years. The others range down about a year apart with Chuckie the youngest at 6 months. Apple is an indoor cat (front declawed). The others are primarily outdoor but are indoor trained (litterbox & manners) and generally come in and out as they wish. These are the most important pets for us to find homes for. My mother will be here to help with the kids and she is highly alergic to cats so we need to find them homes very quickly.

Fish - I think one of the fish is a Molly. The other looks similar but is something else. The tank is 2 gallons or so and has filter, light and necessaries.

Turtles - Two year old box turtles about 7" across the shell. They have a 20 gallon tank with rocks, heater lamp and pump. The last turtle is a little guy about 2". He has his own 15 gallon tall tank with lamp and pump.

In Loving Memory

Anja "Jessie" Peacock
April 25, 1971 - October 20, 2007

In the early morning of October 20 Jessie's life was taken by a drunk driver. Her career was raising our kids so there are no huge professional lauds to list. Just three, really: Jeremy, Jason and Jimmy.

Jessie was passionate about homeschooling and active in that community. She was an editor and moderator for a local news station's online blog. She managed to maintain dozens of friendships over thousands of miles for decades.

She is survived by three beautiful boys and one seriously confused, hurt and angry husband.

I miss you, Sweetie.
*KISS* *HUG* *NIBBLE*

I'll update on this blog when I know what is happening and where for Jessie.
